Dr. Jerry L. Risser began laying the groundwork for Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center in 2006, after 14 years in small animal practice. He began practice after completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M University (1992). Born in northern Indiana, Dr. Risser grew up in the Midwest before his move to Texas, where he attended high school and completed his Bachelors degree in Veterinary Science (1989), also at Texas A&M, prior to veterinary school. He returned to Indiana after graduation, practicing at Bloomington Veterinary Hospital for six years. He worked at Fishers Veterinary Associates, a five-doctor practice in Hamilton County, for eight years before launching Fall Creek Veterinary.
Dr. Risser loves the opportunity he has for extended, "one-on-one" time with his clients and patients, and especially the role he can play in teaching the most up-to-date and helpful information available to help people best care for their pets. Though Dr. Risser is excited by advancements in all areas of veterinary medicine, special interests include dermatology, behavior medicine, endocrinology, and surgery, including soft-tissue procedures and stifle (knee) surgery. His professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and Indiana Veterinary Medical Association. He is on the executive board of the Central Indiana Veterinary Medical Association. He has been involved with the Hamilton County Animal Task Force, been a recipient of the Excellence in Continuing Education award from the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, and been a preceptor for a Shelter Medicine course with Indiana University. He also has been a guest lecturer for the veterinary technician program at International Business College, where he serves on the advisory board.
Dr. Risser is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Bioethics degree from Trinity Graduate School. Among his research papers is “End-of-Life Issues in Pets and People: Parallels, Distinctions, and Implications.”
Dr. Risser's wife, Rebecca, is a Speech/ Voice Pathologist with Northside ENT. They have three children: son Jameson (5) and daughters Laine (5) and Lydia (3 1/2). Trudy, a Golden-Retriever mix, is described as both a "happy bouncer" and "love sponge." Kelsey, a tri-colored Shetland Sheepdog, gives great kisses, herds basketballs and children, and will bark incessantly at the slightest provocation.
In time away from practice, and when not chasing after three preschoolers, Dr. Risser enjoys gardening/ landscaping, bicycling, reading, travel (or at least thinking about it), and is an admitted political junkie. The Texas influences come out during football season when his rants at the television increase by several thousand decibels.

Receptionists/ Client Services:
Nikki O'Leary

Nikki is an Indy native, a graduate of North Central High School, and is easily recognizable for her warm and cheerful manner at our front desk and on the phone. She brings many years of veterinary experience to our office, including several working with Dr. Risser, and her gentle manner with the animals shows her commitment to caring for both people and their pets. Further proof is found in the home she shares with two dogs, Smidgen (an aptly-named Chihuahua/ Maltese mix) and Jetta (a Shepherd mix). Roger, a Domestic Shorthair and Sam, a Himalayan mix, provide feline companionship. When not working, Nikki enjoys gardening, music, and riding horses Contact Nikki@fallcreekvet.com
Kimberley Milum
Kim is new to the animal side of medicine, having worked with two-legged critters in the Radiology Department of a regional hospital. Her love for animals is unmistakable, though, as you can discover anytime you mention the subject of pet adoption, or in seeing her play with our patients and her own dogs, Sammie, a 2 1/2-year old mixed breed adopted (surprise, surprise) from the shelter, and Jazmine, a 1 1/2-year old black Lab. She is also passionate about her sons, one grown, one a high-school junior. In fact, her infectious laugh is transformed into that most-terrifying of screams when she becomes, in her words, "a TOTAL FOOTBALL MOM." Off-season pursuits for the Indy native include gardening, movies, thrift/ antique stores and yard sales, and time spent with Ben, her accountant fiance.

Technical, Nursing Care, and Patient Services:
Kali White
Kali is part of the nursing care team, and heads up our surgical department. An Indiana native, she has several years of experience in a variety of veterinary technical areas. She is currently enrolled in the American Animal Hospital Association's (AAHA) Veterinary Technology Distance Learning program. While Kali is famous for her lightning-fast memory and amazing warmth and concern for the patients in her care, she also has a colorful cast of animal characters in her own right. Agent Bruce, an adorable Chihuahua puppy, is joined by Miles Coltrane and Malaki, both of the latter Humane Society-adopted kitties. Dr. Robert Pickle, a 3-year old Chinchilla may be joined in the future by a Boston Terrier. An exciting addition to the brood is Ian, who married Kali on July 14, 2007.

Jamie Davis
Jamie is also part of our nursing staff, and heads up the medicine/ outpatient area. The Noblesville native has extensive experience in small animal medicine, and is equally impressive in displaying her in-depth veterinary knowledge and her deep love and respect for animals. Her furry family includes Levi, a "psycho but
sweet" (in her words) Old English Sheepdog, and cats Rachel, Jake, Marco, Merlin, One-Eyed Jack, and Tonks. Her horse, Ripley, completes the family. Jamie will happily provide thoroughly entertaining biographies for all of her animals. Always busy, Jamie enjoys photography (and has her own animal photography studio to prove it), and even finds time to be an avid science fiction reader.

Groomer
Pamala Kellam
Pam is another home-grown Hoosier, a graduate of Clark Pleasant Community High
School. She worked as a telecommunications specialist for 34 years, and had done
grooming as well for the last 13. Upon retiring from her telecommunications job,
she began following her love of pet grooming full-time at Fall Creek Veterinary.
Even with one less job, there is no time for grass to grow under her feet, as she
stays busy with wide-ranging interests that include car collecting, boating,
fishing, travel, and racing. A graduate of Carmel's Animal Arts Academy, Pam finds
grooming to be relaxing and is "like creating a piece of art." She shares her home with
husband Jim and two Great Danes.

Other Staff
Kristin Curts
Kristin helps manage our bookkeeping duties and sometimes helps out with the front desk. She has lived in the Indianapolis area almost her entire life, attending Bishop Chatard High School and then Indiana University. She and husband Mike have two sons, Tucker, 11, and Connor, 8, who fill her plate year 'round with baseball, football, and basketball. Kristin's family also includes Molly, a very energetic & friendly one-year-old beagle. Her obviously active home gives her opportunities to watch the aforementioned sports (encompassing lots of time in the hot sun, rain, and freezing cold), while "alone" time, such as it is, includes reading, writing, and gardening.

Stacey Simison
Stacey works very hard caring for the inpatients being boarded or hospitalized in our kennel. She is a current student at Ball State University majoring in zoology. Her own "zoo" consists of a parrot, guinea pig, snails, and her beloved "herps" (reptiles). She also volunteers at the Indianapolis Zoo. She is a member of the Hoosier Herpetological Society, and enjoys canoeing, playing ukelele, art, and setting up habitats for wild animals (only Stacey could list "field herping" as a hobby!). Stacey loves working at a veterinary hospital, where she gets to know the personality of each animal, and continues to enjoy learning new things. You can contact Stacey@fallcreekvet.com
