Our Second Puppy Party

Second Puppy Party Attendance Doubles!

Our next puppy party is June 14, from Noon to 2 PM! Call or e-mail Jamie to reserve your spot now!

Here at Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center, we’ve had a puppy population explosion! It certainly showed at this month’s puppy party, too. For our first puppy party we had a respectable total of 5 attendees, and they had a great time (see the archives for the write-up, and a video). This month our attendance doubled to 10 puppies! Our morning technician, Kali, brought her new Boston Terrier puppy Brennan to join the fray. He was delighted to meet fellow Boston puppy Butters, but he was doubly delighted to meet tiny Westie puppy Callie! Callie, of course, was delighted to meet everyone, both person and puppy. She spent much of her time, in fact, trying to crawl inside Schatzi the Rottweiler’s mouth. No fear in that one, that’s for certain, though she certainly did manage to confound Schatzi. I can only imagine what was going on in Schatzi’s mind… “WHY are you so fascinated with my mouth??”

Gracie the little shih-tzu mix from our first party returned, and brought her littermate Yogi to play. Unfortunately, Yogi was being the classic “annoying little brother”, and Gracie wasn’t having any of that. She wanted to play with the other dogs, but every time Yogi came about, she would trot back underneath her daddy’s chair and sulk. Gabby the Bichon was another “old hand” at the puppy party, she, Gracie and Schatzi all returning from the original party in February. Gabby really looks forward to the puppy parties, and has a great time running around and eliciting everyone to play. Bella the Yorkie was the polar opposite; I think she’s convinced that she’s not a dog. She mixed with people very well, inhabiting almost everyone at the party’s lap at some point, but if another puppy tried to get her to play, they were met with a lifted lip. At least Bella was meeting new people, and she did seem interested in watching the others play, even if she didn’t want to play, herself.

Another who wasn’t too certain at first was Norbert the 8 week old Labrador. Before Norbert came out of his carrier, he was accosted by Gabby and Callie, wanting to play. They were warned off with a tiny growl, but left to his own devices, Norbert’s curiosity got the better of him, and it wasn’t long before he was trailing after the main play group, and occasionally taking part. He wore himself out before too long, though, and could be found snoozing underneath a chair at random intervals. Oldest, but not least was Coco the Westie puppy. She was one of the first 3 to come in, and had a great time romping around and getting everyone involved in some “slightly rough” play, which Westies really enjoy. You can imagine her surprise, though, when Callie came in, another Westie a full 4 months younger than Coco, and immediately attached herself to Coco like a tiny white burr. Coco liked getting everyone else to play, but it was a new experience for her to be the one that was being followed around!

Adding to the puppy pandemonium, we had a busy Saturday’s worth of appointments. The result of that is that future puppy parties will be held between Noon and 2 PM, so we’ll have sole use of the lobby. I’m also going to be working out a schedule with Dr. Risser so that we can add an adolescent play group date to alternate between puppy parties, so that older puppies can socialize with each other. Thanks again to all who attended this month’s puppy party, we hope to see you all again at the next one... I’ll let you all know as soon as we have a date set. Feedback from attendees is always appreciated, and as always, if you have any questions or problems that arise between parties, please call or e-mail and we’ll be happy to help you!

Thanks to all the pups and owners that made our Puppy Party such a good time! If you have any pictures or video, please e-mail it to me, and I'll put it in our puppy party web gallery!
